This new book explores the long relationship between the Earls of Bradford and Bolton a relationship which has lasted over 350 years. As lords of the manor for much of the town, the family has played a key role in shaping Bolton socially, economically and politically. This is the fascinating story of that influence. Lavishly illustrated, this 96 page book is now available for purchase.

This little book is a fully illustrated account of the recent rebuilding of the Octagon theatre. Set in the context of earlier developments, the story tells how the work progressed despite the problems caused by the covid pandemic. It illustrates the success of the theatre in keeping both shows and the work within the Bolton community going when the building was unavailable. It also gives a full idea of all the changes which have been made to the front of house, in the theatre’s performance areas and behind the scenes.
The rebuilding has transformed much of the theatre yet has retained the spirit of the place where audiences have enjoyed themselves for nearly fifty-five years. The enthusiasm of the theatre’s staff, their supporters and the contractors shines through to the outcome of the project – a refreshed theatre ready to play its role in Bolton’s cultural scene for many more years.
